A winter for lakefront walkers

There have been years when by the last week in December the Port Washington lakefront is encrusted in ice and snow and walking along it is difficult if not impossible. But this winter, without a single flake of snow on the ground, pedestrians have had unfettered access to the lake. On Friday, Dec. 29, Scott Koeffer and Trish Norman walked their dogs on the breakwater (top photo), which attracted several people who wanted to get a glimpse of a calm Lake Michigan on a mild day (above).
