Winker reaches goal of leading the Wisconsin Towns Association
Belgium Town Chairman Tom Winker announced on Monday that he has been elected chairman of the Wisconsin Towns Association.
Winker was voted in at the Nov. 19 monthly meeting of the association.
He succeeds WTA President Jerry Durr, who died on Nov. 1.
“Jerry Durr, the president, was my dear friend and I always had a goal of someday being president,” Winker said. “This ain’t the way I envisioned being president. But you know, when it’s time for you to step up to the plate, you step up to the plate and move forward.”
He said his role will help the Town of Belgium.
“I will continue to bring a lot of information back to this town, which is wonderful,” he said.
In other business at Monday’s Town Board meeting, Winker appointed officials to three bodies.
Kathy and Ron Swihart, Gerry Bichler, Denise Dimmer and Brad and Dorothea McConnohie were appointed election inspectors.
Plan Commission members appointed were Winker, Tom Bichler, Dennis Dimmer, Matt Fuller, Charles Parks, Luke Gasser, Jeremy Risch, Brian Schmidt and Keith Schueller.
Board of Appeals members appointed were James Hubing (chairman), Al Weyker, Louise Hillegass, Ralph Weber and Janice Poss. Gerald Gantner is an alternate.
