The Ozaukee High School boys’ basketball team was no match for the host Kohler Blue Bombers Monday night as the Warriors dropped a 91-60 Big East Conference South game.

The Bombers took a 12-1 lead and cruised to the victory.

Kohler drained 13 shots from beyond the arc and made 18 of 27 free throw attempts on their way to the win.

The Bombers had five players score in double digits, led by Brody Duchow with 19. Max Breitenbach scored 17, Zane Willadsen and Jackson Mannon scored 15 and Aiden Oldenhoff chipped in 12.

The Warriors got a big game from Chase Mills, who scored 24 points, including five three-point baskets. Otto Utecht scored 15 points. Jared Robinson had four assists.

Last week, the Warriors dropped two games.

Ozaukee played its worst game of the season Dec. 30 when it hosted Hustisford in a nonconference contest.

The Warriors lost, 49-42.

“This is a game we should have won. We shot poorly and didn’t rebound well,” Ozaukee coach Bob Domach said.

“They were a much more physical team than us. We only shot 23%, and that is not good enough to win. This was without a doubt our most frustrating game of the season, one we have to learn from and get better.”

The Warriors trailed, 22-16, at halftime.

Ozaukee’s defense couldn’t contain Caleb Peplinski, who led all scorers with 24 points.

The Warriors were led by Mills, who had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Brice Schueller had 10 points and seven rebounds. CJ Dvorak scored a career-high nine points and Braydon Lowrance-Eischen added seven points.

The Warriors were without starter Otto Utecht, who was on vacation.

Last Friday, Ozaukee lost to visiting Howards Grove, 61-46.

“We took a step in the right direction against one of the better teams in Division 4. Our rebounding has to improve as well as taking care of the ball,” Domach said.

“However, our offense flowed much better and we saw a ton of improvement on the defensive end.”

Once again, the Warriors fell behind in the first half and trailed 29-16 at the break. They played better in the second half, when the Tigers held a 32-30 edge.

Mills led the Warriors with 17 points. Lowrance-Eischen scored 14 points and Schueller added 11.

The Warriors, 0-8, will host Sheboygan Lutheran Friday, Jan. 10, and play at Sheboygan Christian Monday, Jan. 13.
