Warm spirits abound on a tree-lit evening

Chilly weather failed to dampen spirits as Grafton residents welcomed the holiday season with the annual tree-lighting ceremony at Paramount Plaza on Sunday, Nov. 18. Hundreds of celebrants attended the event, including Sarah McCraw and her daughters Morgan, 8, and Mia, 6 (above). At right, members of the John Long Middle School choir — including (from left) Amanda Hoenecke, Brooke Brezovar and Kayla Dembiec — performed during the event, which also featured a visit from Jolly the Elf and the presentation of the Outstanding Citizen award to Debbie Krueger. Grafton’s celebration will continue Saturday, Nov. 24, with Breakfast With Santa and the 39th annual Christmas parade. Photos by Sam Arendt

Miranda Mumme, 7, served as the official tree lighter during festivities at the Paramount Plaza. Looking on were Jolly the Elf (left) and Pam King, executive director of the Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce. Miranda will also be the junior parade marshall for the Grafton Christmas parade this Saturday.
