Warm up at the Chili Bowl

JoAnn Sigwart, whose late husband John was a longtime member of the Greater Port Washington Kiwanis Club and the founder of the Port Washington Chili Bowl, sold tickets to the 10th annual event last weekend at Port’s indoor farmer’s market. The Chili Bowl will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at nine downtown eateries — Tello’s, The Beacon, John’s Pizzaria, Inventors Brewpub, Beanie’s, Moonlight Tavern, Lucky Devil’s BBQ, Steerage and the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion clubhouse. Those attending will be able to sample chili at the various restaurants, then vote for their favorite. A tribute to Mr. Sigwart, whose photo was on the table, will be held at 4:30 p.m. at Inventors. Tickets for the event are available at the participating eateries and from Kiwanis Club members.       Photo by Sam Arendt
