A warm and cozy Christmas thanks to the Port Legion

Members of the Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82 in Port Washington and its Auxiliary collected 2,100 pairs of socks, dozens of sweatsuits and other items as a holiday gifts for veterans at the V.A. Hospital in Milwaukee and homeless veterans in the area. Holding a sign publicizing the drive during a celebration of the end of the collection Dec. 19 were young Sebastian Waldoch, TC Cougill and Diane Burkhalter while a group including Wendy Maechtle, Jan Nealy, Jim Schmidt, John and Glenda Jacque, Vicki and Rich Gahan, Paul Scharnweber, Linda Buser, Katie Waldoch Cougill, Mary Marchese, Chery Peterson, Tina Mach and Janet Scharnweber looked on.     Photo by Sam Arendt
