Virtual 5K run to be held to benefit Mel’s Charities
A virtual 5K run to benefit Mel’s Charities will be held by Anytime Fitness in Port Washington from 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, and 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
The event is open to the public and will offer prizes for the best costumes as well as raffle prizes.
Participants may run their own route outside, select a pre-determined route or use a treadmill. The run route, finish time and date should be captured with MapMyRun, Apple Watch, FitBit, Samsung watch or another tracking app.
Once the run is completed, participants should send a screen shot that includes the date, time and distance to port5kresults@gmail.com by 5 p.m. Nov. 1, to be eligible for prizes.
Contestants in the best costume contest should use the Facebook hashtag #AFHaunted5K to submit their entry. The picture with the most likes will win a prize.
The grand prize for the fastest time is one month of free unlimited team training, a free three-month gym membership and a trophy. The second and third-place winners will receive gift cards to local businesses and medals.
Entrants may register online using the Anytime Fitness Port Washington Facebook page or by stopping at the gym.
