Village plans to increase water rate 3%

The Saukville Village Board last week approved a water increase of 3% that, if approved by the state Public Service Commission, will go into effect in July.

The request will be submitted to the PSC on May 1.

“The increase is necessary to reduce the existing deficiency from present rates,” according to a memo requesting the rate increase. 

A public hearing is not required  to approve the increase.

An average residential home that uses 12,000 gallons of water will see its quarterly water bill go up $1.80 to $63.60.             

A commercial business that uses 150,000 gallons will see its quarterly bill go up $13.37 from $466 to $479.37.

Public fire protection rates and wholesale rates will also increase 3%.

The rate increase would raise an additional $37,372 in annual revenue for the water utility, based on water sales of almost $1.25 million, according to documents submitted to the Village Board.
