Village OKs water main work for $284K
The Belgium Village Board on Monday selected a firm for its next water main project.
Kruczek Construction of Green Bay turned in the lowest of five bids to do water main work at Highway LL and Lakeview Drive. Its bid was $284,000. Four other bids ranged from $323,000 to $358,000.
The village’s engineer, McMahon and Associates, recommended Kruczek do the job, Public Works Director Dan Birenbaum said. The company has been in business for about 40 years.
The project will include 1,500 feet of pipe to loop multiple water main dead ends, Birenbaum said, which will prevent water from becoming stagnant and will provide for better fire protection and water flow.
The job is scheduled to start in September and last about two and a half weeks. Traffic shouldn’t be affected, Birenbaum said.
