The Village of Belgium will interview four candidates for village clerk on Thursday, Jan. 25.

More candidates may be interviewed next week.

The Finance and Personnel Committee is holding the interviews.

The Village Board is expected to approve a candidate for the position at its Feb. 12 meeting.

The clerk’s salary range is to start at $40,000 and it could be higher, depending on experience, Treasurer Vickie Boehnlein said.

Clerk Julie Lesar is resigning. Her last day is Feb. 2.

In the interim, Boehnlein, also the deputy clerk, will handle clerk duties.

Lesar has agreed to help train the new clerk. What she will get paid for training is on Thursday’s agenda as well.

Lesar has been with the village for eight years.
