Village is flushing its fire hydrants

The Village of Belgium started flushing its fire hydrants this week, a process that will continue into the first week of November, Director of Public Works Dan Birenbaum said.

Flushing is occurring between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

It is recommended residents don’t do laundry during that time.

Water from faucets may be discolored. If it doesn’t clear up after a couple of minutes, Birenbaum said to call the village at (262) 285-7931.

Flushing started on the east end of the village, he said.
