Two more local elected officials say they will not be running for re-election in the spring election.

Fredonia Village Trustee T.J. Meyers-Jansky told Village Board members last week she will not run for re-election in April, citing business and family commitments.

“I don’t feel I’m able to put the time in to serve,” she said. “I can’t do a really good job.”

Meyers-Jansky, who was first elected in April 2017, filed a notice of non-candidacy on Dec. 20, which was the day before the filing deadline.

She noted that her step son died in September 2017 and that the demands of her business were interfering with her duties as village trustee.

Meyers-Jansky is chairman of the village’s Economic Development Committee and said she hopes to continue with some of those initiatives after she leaves the Village Board.

“I still want to be involved,” she said.

Still on the ballot come April are Village President Don Dohrwardt, Trustees John Long and Bill McLarty and challenger Dan Gehrke.

Scott Szczerbinski, who represents the Town of Fredonia on the Northern Ozaukee School Board, has filed a notice of non-candidacy.

He was elected in 2016.

Szczerbinski could not be reached for comment.

Besides Szczerbinski’s seat, there are two other seats open in the Northern Ozaukee School District: a Town of Belgium seat currently held by Dan Large and a Town of Saukville seat held by Rick Hamm.

In the Town of Fredonia, Supr. Lance Leider has taken out papers to replace Chairman Rich Mueller, who has announced he will not run for re-election. Supervisors Chris Janik and Mark Schubert also are up for re-election.
