An idea to add Wednesday hours for residents to drop off recycling and garbage at the Town of Belgium’s transfer site was turned down this month.

“If we do Wednesday hours, then we would probably cut Saturday hours,” transfer site supervisor Dave Winnemuller said.

Supr. Bill Janeshek said adding Wednesday hours would also create issues with snow removal.

The idea didn’t make it to a vote. The same hours will be kept for winter — 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

In other news, Winnemuller installed a new donated window in the shed at the site.
