Technical education gets a shot in the arm
The Northern Ozaukee School District will be expanding its technology offerings with a $12,835 grant the district will use to purchase a new robotic arm for its technology education department.
The Wisconsin Fast Forward Grant award was announced by Supt. Dave Karrels during an April 18 School Board meeting.
Karrels said the robotic arm, a device often used in manufacturing processes, will provide students with an early introduction to technology they may work with later in their careers.
“As we work with our local businesses, companies and our tech-ed department, this is really been emphasized as the next thing we need in upgrading our equipment,” he said. “So it’s really exciting to see that.”
Karrels offered a special thanks to Business Services Director Joshua McDaniel and Technology Education teacher James Peter for their work on the grant application.
“Great job and thank you,” Karrels said.
This is not the first time the district has received a grant through WFF. In 2020, NOSD secured a $5,250 grant to purchase five welders.
