State legislators representing Ozaukee sworn in

Lawmakers were sworn in Monday, Jan. 6, at the state Capitol in Madison as the 107th Wisconsin State Legislature was gaveled into session, and among them were three representing parts of Ozaukee County — Sen. Jodi Habush Sinykin (top), Rep. Paul Melotik (lower left) and Rep. Rob Brooks (right). Habush Sinykin, D-Whitefish Bay, won her first term in office by defeating veteran lawmaker Duey Stroebel in a hard-fought race in November for the redrawn 8th Senate District, which includes Port Washington, Grafton, Cedarburg, Mequon and Thiensville in Ozaukee County and parts of northern Milwaukee County. Melotik, R-Grafton, defeated Dana Glasstein in a race for the redrawn 22nd Assembly District to win his second term in office. His district includes Port Washington, Grafton, Cedarburg and a portion of Mequon in Ozaukee County and parts of Washington County. Brooks, R-Saukville, won a sixth term by defeating Jack Holzman in a race for the redrawn 59th Assembly District, which includes Saukville, Belgium and Fredonia in Ozaukee County and parts of Fond du Lac, Sheboygan and Dodge counties.
