Spring break STEM classes to be held

The Grafton Parks and Recreation Department is offering education during spring break.

Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) spring break classes taught by Computer Explorers will be held Monday through Thursday, March 27 to 30, on the second floor of the Cedarburg Community Gym. Each class costs $55.

Classes include:

•“Pirates, Aliens, Robots and Who?” — Students will work with several versions of simple sequence programming using numbers, shapes and colors.

The class is for children ages 4 to 6 and runs from 9 to 10 a.m.

• “Science, technology, research, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STREAM) Sampler” — Each class will explore a different STREAM concept that could include coding, robotics and engineering, video game design, catapults, digital movie making, LOGO programming, GPS, snap circuits, creative writing and art exploration.

It’s for children ages 4 to 6 and runs from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.

•“Technology Trio” ­— Children rotate through three different programs in this class. Choose from WeDo robotics, Gears! Gears! Gears!, animated movie making, LEGO motorized Dacta kits and coding projects.

It is for children ages 7 to 12 and runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

•“Let’s Get Moving with LEGO Machine Sets” — Children may build a sail car, drag racers and various powered machines using LEGO 968 Education sets.

It’s for children ages 7 to 12 and runs from 2 to 3 p.m.
