The Saukville Village Board on May 4 authorized public improvements and levying special assessments for the Colonial Parkway public infrastructure improvement project.

Slated for South Colonial Parkway from Cedar Sauk Road north through the intersection with West Deer Pass Road, the project includes pavement pulverization and grading, removal of excess pulverized pavement, laying of new asphalt, and the spot removal and replacement of curb and gutter, sidewalk, ADA ramps and driveway approaches on both sides of the street where deemed necessary.

The project also includes replacement and installation of storm sewer and storm sewer inlets at South Colonial Parkway intersections with West Whitegate Drive, West Hollyhock Lane and West Deer Pass Road, including new storm sewer, sewer laterals, storm inlets and manholes and the abandonment of the existing storm sewer, sewer inlets and manholes.

Assessments for the project will be due within 45 days of the billing dates, with assessments of less than $200 to be paid in one installment.

Assessments of $200 to $1,000 may be made in three annual installments. Assessments of $1,000 to $5,000 may be made in seven annual installments. Assessments of $5,000 or more may be made in 10 annual installments.

Payments can made before Nov. 1, 2021, with no interest. After that, payments will be placed on the tax roll with a fixed annual interest rate of 1.04% per year.

Future annual installments not made prior to Nov. 1 will have a fixed annual interest rate of 1.04%.

In related news, the board approved an amendment to the village’s special assessment policy to cover the true interest costs of special assessment debt service, as well as an administrative fee to cover costs associated with overseeing special assessments.

Trustees also approved revisions to Chapter 101 of village ordinances governing fire prevention, protective and control codes, including an amendment grandfathering in existing permitted outdoor fire pits.
