Soccer rolls on for CG-Belgium

Abby Kraus had a hat trick to lead Cedar Grove-Belgium High School’s soccer team past New Holstein last week.

The Rockets won, 4-1, at home to move to 8-1 on the season.

Haven Lanser scored the Rockets’ other goal.

Ellie Felsinger, Alyssa Mentink and Payton Navis each had an assist.

“We generated plenty of opportunities but we lacked efficiency in terms of finishing. I appreciate the ability to possess and the buildup, but the final piece to the process must not be so elusive,” coach Elias Garza said.

“I’m pleased in some areas, but improvement is necessary as we prepare for our next game.”

The Rockets are now 6-0 in the Big East Conference and have won eight straight games after dropping the season opener at Wrightstown.

The Rockets’ April 30 game against Kohler was rescheduled to Friday, May 24, due to wet field conditions.

They were to play at Ozaukee on Tuesday, host second-place Random Lake (5-1 Big East) at 6 p.m. Thursday and play at third-place St. Mary Central (5-2) at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.

Ozaukee picked up its second victory of the season last Thursday, winning 3-0 at Manitowoc Roncalli.Mikayla Penkwitz, Madison Karmasin and Madalyn Gaulke each had goals. Sonnet Bayer had an assist. Janowski made four saves.

The Warriors on April 30 lost, 6-0, at Sheboygan Falls. Goalkeeper Emily Janowski made 14 saves.

Ozaukee, 2-3-2 in the Big East (2-5-3 overall), were to host Cedar Grove-Belgium on Tuesday, play at Howards Grove on Thursday, play in a Kiel tournament on Saturday, host Campbellsport on Monday and play at Random Lake on Tuesday, May 14. The Warriors’ May 1 game against Kiel was moved to May 17.
