Singer/Songwriter concert is on Nov. 15

Emily Hurd will perform a Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Unitarian Church North in Mequon.

Hurd is a prolific songwriter, best known for her clear voice and clever rhymes, whose songwriting style combines soul, folk, blues and rock. 

She is working on her 20th album while helping to run her Rockford, Ill., restaurant, The Norwegian.

Hurd entered the music scene in 2005 when she and many of the staff members from Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music created her third original live album. Since then, she has toured her native Midwest, as well as internationally. 

Her songs have been finalists in several international songwriting competitions.

Tickets are $18 in advance and $22 at the door, with a discount of $1 per nonperishable food item donated to a maximum $4.

Student tickets are $12.

Tickets are available at North Shore Bank in Grafton and Mequon and Vines to Cellar in Port Washington.

The church is at 13800 N. Port Washington Rd.

Cowdery and Hope Dunbar on Friday, Feb. 20; Tim Grimm and Sergio Webb on Saturday, March 28; David Wilcox on Saturday, April 11; and Garnet Rogers on Friday, May 8.
