Singer, songwriter concert set for Feb. 25
Singers and songwriters Joe Jencks and Kaia Fowler will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Unitarian Church North in Mequon.
Doors to the Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series concert open at 7 p.m.
Jencks is a 22-year veteran of the international folk circuit, an award-winning songwriter and celebrated vocalist based in Chicago.
Having penned several No. 1 folk songs, including “Lady of The Harbor,” Jencks is co-founder of the harmony trio, Brother Sun.
He is noted for his merging of musical beauty, social consciousness and spiritual exploration.
His newest solo CD, “Poets, Philosophers, Workers, & Wanderers,” was released in 2017 to critical acclaim and spent several weeks at No. 1 on Sirius XM’s Americana Chart and was the No. 1 CD on the Folk DJ Chart for May 2017 with four songs in the top 10.
Fowler is a versatile guitarist with mastery of finger style and strumming techniques, but she’s best known for her voice, which is often described as having a soothing or healing quality.
Her latest album, “One Breath,” placed on the Folk Alliance International’s Top Albums of the Month chart for July 2022.
For Fowler, who also practices Reiki energy therapy and serves as a life and well-being coach, music creation fits into a larger healing arts ministry.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $29 at the door. Student tickets are $12.
A discount of $1 per food item donated to a maximum $4 will be given at the door.
