Seven-week parenting program set in Grafton

“The Incredible Years,” a seven-week parenting program designed to help promote the success of children ages 2 to 14 is being offered by Ozaukee Family Services.

The program runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from April 11 through May 23 at the Family Enrichment Center, 885 Badger Cir.

Refreshments and free child care will be provided.

The program is intended to teach parents how to prevent, reduce, and treat emotional challenges in children through a positive and nurturing approach.

The course introduces developmentally appropriate and consistent responses to increase children’s self-esteem, reduce conflict in the home and promote a strong and healthy family.

It will also allow parents to build a support network with other parents experiencing similar challenges.

Parents will learn how to strengthen children’s social skills and play skills, promote self-control strategies, increase a child’s emotional awareness, boost academic success, reduce defiance and aggressive behavior and increase a child’s self-esteem.

Parents will also learn postive strategies to manage negative behavior, improve problem solving skills and develop skills to set up predictable routines, schedules and rules, among other things.

The workshop is free but participants must register ahead of time by calling 376-7774.
