Seniors to receive emergency food
Family Sharing of Ozaukee County is teaming up with the Ozaukee County Aging and Disability Resource Center to ensure senior citizens have access to food in case of an emergency.
The ADRC delivers hot meals to seniors daily, but if there is a snowstorm or other weather event, seniors may not receive meals for a day or two while roads are hazardous and people are shoveling out their cars.
To ensure they have food, Family Sharing will provide more than 120 bags of nonperishable food to the ADRC for distribution to its clients.
The bags include oatmeal, canned vegetables, tuna, canned fruit, other foods and toilet paper.
Clients will be informated that this is an emergency food supply that should only be opened when food in the house is depleted.
Anyone who knows of someone who needs basic food supplies is encouraged to contact Family Sharing at (262) 377-0634.
For more information about Family Sharing, visit www.familysharingozaukee.org or visit its resale store at 1002 Overland Ct., Grafton. All proceeds from the store go to supporting the food pantry.
Anyone who needs help finding resources for an aging family member, adult with disabilities or a caregiver, is asked to call the ADRC at (262) 284-8120.
