School lunch prices to rise

 Lunch prices across all grades will cost 10 cents more this year in the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District.

The School Board this month approved the increase due to a rise in food costs.

The new lunch prices are $3.30 at the high school, $3.20 at the middle school and $3.10 at the elementary school.

The milk price remains at 45 cents, and adult lunch prices remain at $4.65.

The district didn’t increase prices last year because its food service fund was healthy, Food Service Director Tammy Peiffer said in a report to the board.

This year, a new dishwasher was bought for the elementary school, a work table for the middle school and an upright cooler for the high school.

“We are in need of a new warming unit in the high school, new lunch trays for the high school and racks for the elementary school for larger bun pans for dishwashing. With the purchase of all these items it will use up a great amount of our balance,” Peiffer wrote.
