Cedar Grove-Belgium School District residents approved the purchase of a piece of land owned by First Evangelical Presbyterian Church last month.

The strip of land is covers about two acres behind the elementary and middle school.

“They (the church) are open to an offer,” Supt. Chad Brakke said.

Bray Architects would help determine the value of the property since assessments aren’t done on parcels that don’t pay taxes, he said.

The land would provide the district some options.

“It will just expand our ability to do a bus loop and playground,” Brakke said.

Board members and a couple of residents approved allowing the district to purchase the property.

Brakke said on Wednesday morning that the church board will meet to determine if it is interested in selling the property.
