Schlenvogt elected to lead County Board for another term

ELECTED BY supervisors Tuesday to lead the Ozaukee County Board for the next two years were (from left) Vice Chairman Pat Foy of Mequon, Chairman Lee Schlenvogt of the Town of Port Washington and Second Vice Chairman Rob Holyoke of Thiensville.
Ozaukee County supervisors on Tuesday re-elected Lee Schlenvogt to another two-year term as County Board chairman.
This time, however, Schlenvogt did not have a challenger, in stark contrast to his last two elections.
His last two terms Schlenvogt, of the Town of Port Washington, was elected by a one-vote margin, 24-1, each time.
But no opponent was nominated by the board’s 25 members who were present, although one unknown supervisor wrote someone else’s name on a slip of paper that was used to tally the votes.
County Administrator Jason Dzwinel declined to share what was written on it, noting it was a secret ballot.
Schlenvogt was first elected chairman in 2013.
Down ballot, Supr. Patrick Foy of Mequon was elected unanimously to serve as vice chairman. Supr. Rob Holyoke of Thiensville was elected 20-5 over Supr. Connie Kincaide of Cedarburg to be second vice chairman.
The organizational meeting is held following each election to swear in the new board and elect its leaders.
The 26 supervisors serve two-year terms.
This year, seven incumbents chose not to run for re-election. There were seven contested races.
Newly elected supervisors who were sworn in for the first time Tuesday were Marcia Nosko in the Town of Saukville, Scott Fischer in the Village of Saukville, Todd Ambs in the Village of Grafton, Melissa Custer in the Village of Grafton, Kevin Kennedy in Cedarburg, Jennifer Mackinnon in Mequon and Monis Khan in Mequon.
At Tuesday’s meeting supervisors also were asked to list the committees on which they would like to serve.
Schlenvogt will make those committee appointments, including chairmanships, in coming weeks.
The five standing committees are Finance, Health and Human Services, Natural Resources, Public Safety and Public Works.
The chairmen of the five committees are assigned to the Executive Committee, which is led by Schlenvogt.
