Saukville pizza place goes to the dogs for a good cause

The Riverview Inn in Saukville is known for its pizza, not as a hangout for dogs, but there were plenty of pups in need of homes there on Saturday, Aug. 11, for the Rover by the River Benefit. The restaurant raised $630 for Tailwaggers911 Dog Rescue, a Grafton nonprofit organization, by selling homemade dog treats, dog print infinity scarves donated by a customer of the restaurant, doggie bandanas and carved wood dogs. The fundraiser was conceived at a monthly meeting of Riverview Inn staff members when owner Lisa Burich asked her employees what they feel passionately about. Lori Manthei talked about her love of dogs, and the groundwork for the Rover by the River Benefit was laid. Photo is Mallory Reinhardt and Ruby. The red scarves worn by the dogs means they are looking for homes.                                        Photos by Sam Arendt
