The village and town of Belgium’s annual e-cycle event won’t be annual after this Saturday.

The Town Board and Village Board agreed to hold the event every other year, meaning the next one will be in 2024.

The popular event provides village and town residents one day to recycle a host of electronic and other materials. Past events have filled multiple dumpsters with items, including several TVs.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the town transfer site, 1215 Jay Rd.

For a list of accepted items, visit the town’s website at www.town.belgium.wi.us and click the recycling tab.

In addition, Plus Group Financial will again hold its free shredding event at 680 Main St. from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Village and town residents may bring five boxes of paper each.

Summer hours started at transfer site

The town transfer site also started its summer hours in May. It is open from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

The Town Board on May 2 decided to add signs on the dumpsters in Spanish in addition to English after site supervisor Ron Swihart said Spanish speakers had showed up with no identification. Swihart doesn’t speak Spanish and said the people began swearing at him when he didn’t respond how they wanted.
