Saints still looking for elusive first victory

The Saukville Saints grabbed a lead over the first-place Kewaskum A’s on the road in a Rock River Baseball League game last Sunday, but it didn’t hold up long in a 12-5 loss.

The Saints scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Steve Dickmann and Max Pruefer each walked and advanced on a wild pitch. Casey Johnson singled both runners in to give Saukville a 2-0 lead.

The A’s bounced back with five runs in the bottom of the fourth, keyed by Brad Young’s three-run homer.

Kewaskum added two runs in each of the next two innings, one run in the seventh and two more in the eighth.

The Saints scored three times in the seventh. Ian Tucker and Johnson each singled, and a double by Brian Hirschinger scored one.

Mike Pruefer’s sacrifice fly plated another run, and an infield grounder from Aaron Brockman scored the third.

Johnson had two hits to lead the Saints.

Young had four hits for the A’s.

This week, the Saints host the Rubicon Red Sox at Fred Dickmann Field in Saukville on Saturday and play at Oakfield on Sunday. Both games are at 1:30 p.m.
