After a rainy start to the summer, warm weather allowed the Saukville Saints to play three games last week.
Unfortunately, their play wasn’t as hot as the temperature.
Last Saturday, the Saints lost to the Cedarburg Mercs on the road, 13-8.
The teams combined for 30 hits with the Saints racking up 14.
Max Pruefer had three hits and Steve Dickmann, Dustin Kesner and Aaron Brockman had two each.
For the Mercs, Christian Kadrich, John Regnitz and Grant Steinike each had three hits.
The Mercs scored three runs in the first inning and five in the third to take an 8-3 lead. They added one run each in the fifth and eighth innings, and three in the ninth.
The Saints scored three runs each in the third and eighth innings and two in the ninth.
On July 10, the Saints lost to the Thiensville Mequon Twins, 7-4, on the road.
Pruefer had three hits and Kesner had two RBI.
The Saints had seven hits to the Twin’s eight.
The Twins blew the game open with four runs in the third inning. The Saints scored two in the third and one each in the sixth and eighth.
On July 8, the Saints lost to Hartford Hawks, 10-2, on the road.
The Saints had two early leads. In the first inning, three walks and a Steve Dickmann single made it 1-0. In the third, a Pruefer single, stolen base, ground out, hit batter and double steal gave them a 2-1 lead.
The Hawks scored one run each in the second, third, fourth and ninth innings, and three each in the fifth and sixth. They pounded out 17 hits to the Saints’ four.
The Saints, 1-11 in the Rock River League, play at the 6-6 Rubicon Red Sox at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
