Riveredge center to host programs
Riveredge Nature Center has a host of programs coming up:
“Yoga and Mindfulness in Nature,” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, is designed to build resilience and improve mental and physical health by practicing slow flow yoga and mindfulness.
Samantha Lammers, of SOYO Studios, and a Riveredge Environmental Educator will infuse movement and mindfulness in a 45-minute beginner-friendly slow flow, followed by 45 minutes of meditation and hands-on exploration, including a peaceful three-quarter-mile hike. The session is for those 18 and older. Admissions is $15 for Riveredge members, $20 for nonmembers.
“Stroll with a Naturalist Hike: Focus on Dragonflies,” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24, includes a hike with a master naturalist who will talk about the different kinds of dragonflies, how to identify them, where they live and what their life cycle is like. The session is for those 18 and older. Admission is free.
The “Cooped-Up Naturalist,” from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, will feature a Riveredge naturalist will lead a hike and talk about the specific wildlife, plants, and other summer features of Riveredge. People may explore seasonal nature objects, such as pelts, bones, stones, dried plants, seeds or branches. Free for all ages. No registration is required.
Photo Club, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, in the Riveredge Barn, is a friendly and informal free gathering that includes a brief discussion of upcoming activities, a short program and concludes with the opportunity to share and discuss photos. All photographers are welcome, regardless of skill level. A Zoom option is available. For those 18 and older. Free. No pre-registration is required.
A “Farm to Table Dinner” will be held from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6. This annual fundraising gala presented by Charter Steel, is served beneath the stars on locally sourced ingredients while supporting the Riveredge mission.
Jim Paschke is back as guest speaker. View the Riveredge grounds from sunset to moonrise and enjoy a delicious meal with beverages, appetizer, salad, main course and dessert. You’ll hear firsthand about how Riveredge is making positive change throughout southeastern Wisconsin and get a chance to bid on silent and live auction items.
