Riveredge activities abound this summer

Riveredge Nature Center in the Town of Saukville has a host of opportunities to connect with the outdoors in the coming weeks.

• Stroll with a Naturalist will offer a free guided hike from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26.

People will learn about the many birds who spend time in the sanctuary. Newbies with no bird knowledge are welcome.

The focus will be on nesting birds.

All ages are welcome. Hikers are asked to meet at the Visitor Center.

• Volunteers are being sought for the butterfly and dragonfly count on Saturday, June 28.

Participants may contribute to 30-plus years or research by learning alongside conservation professionals.

The free event for adults will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. People may stay for part or all of the day.

A review will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by a count in the field.

• The inaugural Riveredge Bioblitz with drop-in activities throughout the day will be held Saturday, July 12.

Citizen scientists of all ages are invited to contribute to the monitoring and inventory of plants, birds, insects and fish within a fixed acreage of land and water. 

Photo documentation and data collection will be used via the iNaturalist app. Participants will be taught how to use the app.

Riveredge research and conservation staff, alongside regional species specialists, will be leading identification hikes at scheduled times, including Bird Banding, Native Community Orchard Field Tour, Woody Plants, Dragonflies, Birding by Ear and Sight and more.
