River History Day set for Saturday

Riveredge Nature Center’s Community Rivers Program and the Saukville Historical Society’s Crossroads Rendezvous will host the second annual River History Day on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will focus on the importance of the Milwaukee River to the area and how it has impacted Saukville through the years.

Among the highlights of River History Day will be:

• Mountain Man’s Music for children of all ages with Crossroads Rendezvous founder Randy Miller.

• A paddling demonstration and Wacky Water Critters Exploration with the Community Rivers Program.

• Dan Helm of the Saukville Department of Public Works will talk about storm drains and how they affect the Milwaukee River.

• A 100 years on the Milwaukee River slideshow.

• Fry bread from the Saukville Historical Society.

• Buffalo burgers and brats from Crossroads Rendezvous.
