Rebels run into trouble in Brookfield

The eighth-grade Saukville Rebels lost the time of possession battle at Brookfield Central on Saturday and lost on the scoreboard, 24-14.

Kaiden Schumacher scored on a 6-yard run in the first quarter but he Rebels trailed at halftime, 16-6.

Nate Uselding hit Connor Snodgrass for a 54-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, and Matt Esselmann kicked the extra point to bring the game within two. Brookfield Central then converted on a key fourth down to keep a long scoring drive alive and keep the Rebels offense off the field and seal the win.

The seventh-grade Rebels played tough all game long in a 31-20 loss. Logan Niemeyer passed for two touchdowns and ran for a one, with Noah Day going 1-for-3 on extra-point kicks.

Braydex Greenwood hauled in the first touchdown pass for 38 yards, and Day caught the second from Niemeyer for a 16-yard score.

In the fifth-grade game, Mason Sommer scored on a 48-yard wuarterback keeper, and Dylan Kirk caught a 42-yard touchdown pass from Sommer. Garett Kawczynski scored two extra point runs but the Rebels fell, 41-14.

 The Rebels head to West Bend this Saturday for games against West Bend East. The eighth grade starts at 9 a.m. with seventh and sixth grades to follow.
