Public input sought on counties’ library plan

    The public is invited to comment on a 2021-2025 Joint County Library Service Plan that would guide library services in Sheboygan and Ozaukee counties through 2025.
    Residents of the two counties can comment on the plan either in writing or by attending two public hearings either in person or virtually. Meeting occupancy will be limited to allow for social distancing.
    Public hearings will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at the Plymouth Public Library, 130 Division St., Plymouth, and Thursday, May 28, at the W.J. Niederkorn Public Library, 316 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington.
    The draft report, as well as online or phone meeting connection instructions, is posted on the Monarch Library System website at www.monarchlibraries.org, on Sheboygan County’s website at www.sheboygancounty.com and on Ozaukee County’s website www.co.ozaukee.wi.us.

    The plans calls for continuing service to  rural residents through the Bookmobile and for reimbursing libraries for the full cost of providing library services to non-libraried residents.
    The plan also calls for Sheboygan County to reimburse libraries for 100% of costs, as Ozaukee County does now, phasing it in at 1% per year for the next two years.
