Prospective clinical psychologist wins scholarship

Winona State University junior Margaret Paulus, a 2017 Port Washington High School graduate, recently received the Dr. Dorr Scholarship for $1,500 from the American Legion Melvin Wester Post 412 of Belgium. Paulus had the highest grade-point average of the four applicants for the annual award. She is majoring in psychology and communication studies and hopes to become a clinical psychologist. Joining Paulus for the check presentation were (front row, from left) her parents Tom and Anne Paulus, grandparents Betty and John Paulus, (back row) Post Commander Jerry Keller and Post Scholarship Chairman Al Poull. Money for the scholarship is raised at the Legion’s annual Green Bay Packers tailgate party. The post has awarded the scholarship every year since 1983. It is open to relatives of post members and residents in the village and town of Belgium. The scholarship is named for the late Robert Dorr, a former post member who started practicing medicine in Belgium in 1946. Photo by Sam Arendt
