Programs explores how plants come to market

“How New Plants Come to Be” is the topic for the 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, meeting of the Ozaukee Master Gardeners.

Longtime Master Gardener Erin Schanen, who also writes “The Impatient Gardener” blog, will present the program, which is based on her experiences attending the California Spring Garden Trials.

The event is a coordinated effort between breeders, growers, distributors and media outlets to introduce new plants and products.

Schanen will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the steps it takes for a plant to get to garden centers and showcase garden trends for 2019.

The program will be held in the auditorium at the Ozaukee County Administration Center, 121 W. Main St., Port Washington.
