Program to focus on gun violence and kids

Gun violence and how it affects children is the topic of a 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, program at the Cedarburg Cultural Center.

A panel will discuss childhood trauma and anxiety, what gun violence looks like through the eyes of a pediatric emergency physician, growing up with gun violence being the norm and what educators are being taught about implementing active shooter response training.

The panel includes psychologist Abby Noack Haggas, who is a clinical supervisor for the Milwaukee County Trauma Response Team; pediatric emergency physician Megan Schultz, who works at Children’s Wisconsin and is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin; Tyler Kelly, a recent graduate of Carthage College and student activist for gun reform; and Cedarburg Police Sgt. Benjamin Buckenberge, a member of the Ozaukee County Special Response Team.
