Principal hung up on good character

Photos by Sam Arendt

Woodview Elementary School Principal Jill Schwenzen got herself in a sticky situation last week when she made good on a challenge she issued to students at the beginning of the second quarter — do a good job focusing on the character traits of friendship, respect, compassion and integrity and get a chance to watch their principal be taped to a wall during an assembly. Teachers selected students who exemplified those traits to do the taping, and standing by to do the honors were (from left in photo above) Finn Kuehnl, Olivia Hofstand, Lydia Gunderson, Matthew Heinz, Adeline Nielsen and Harper Nourse. Schwenzen described the prospect of the tape failing and her falling as terrifying, but the students did a good job and Schwenzen hung in there. The assembly also featured a magic show.
