Port swimmers start to see consistency

Coach hopes to see time drops as year closes

Port Washington High School’s girls’ swim team lost its final dual meet of the season, 142-38, at home to Homestead on Oct. 16.

Freshman Kamryn Lapacek scored eight points. Junior Allison Schmutzler scored seven, and sophomore Sydney Hannert scored six.

“The girls have worked hard and are definitely ready for their final meets of the season,” co-coach Danielle Peiffer said.

Lapacek took second in the 50-meter freestyle in 27.83 seconds, and was second in the 100 freestyle in 1:02.33.

Schmutzler neared a personal record in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:27.71, good for second.

She scored a third place with a PR in the 200 freestyle in 2:24.44.

Hannert took third in the 100 butterfly in 1:13.32.

She also took third in the 200 individual medley with a PR 2:38.25.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Elaina Wichmann, Caroline Hadacek, Schmutzler and Lapacek took third in 2:02.58.

The 200 medley relay team of Wichmann, Schmutzler, Erin Grisar and Lapacek took third in 2:18.24.

“The girls were very consistent with their times and we are confident they will see some time drops in their last meets of the season,” Peiffer said.

The North Shore Conference swim and dive meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Grafton. Diving will be held on Friday with swimming on Saturday.

Diving sectional meets follow on Friday, Nov. 2, with swimming sectional meets on Saturday, Nov. 3. Port and Grafton will compete in division 2 at New Berlin Eisenhower.
