Port Senior Center programs announced
February and March programs at the Port Washington Senior Center have been announced.
Circuit training for men and women will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 28 to April 20.
The program is adapted from Strong Women, Silver Sneakers and other age inspired fitness routines. A physical release form must be completed for new participants or current members with physical or health changes.
The instructor is Tina Mach.
There is no out-of-pocket fee for participants with Optum, Silver Fit and Silver Sneaker Flex Class insurance coverage. The fee is $40 for center members and $50 for nonmembers.
Reservations are required by Thursday, Feb. 23
Zumba Gold classes will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 28 to April 20.
The low impact, Latin-dance inspired fitness class has aerobic routines designed for adult beginners and participants with physical limitations.
The 45-minute workout is led by Tina Mach.
There is no out-of-pocket fee for participants with Optum, Silver Fit and Silver Sneaker Flex Class insurance coverage. The fee is $20 for the course or $3 per class for center members and $35 and $5, respectively, for nonmembers.
Reservations are due by Thursday, Feb. 23.
“The Personal Librarian” by Marie Benedict & Victoria Christopher Murray will be discussed by the Delta Kappa Gamma Book Club at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28.
The book tells the story of Belle da Costa Greene, who is hired to curate the books and art for J.P. Morgan’s Pierpont Library.
There is no fee for center members. The fee for nonmembers is $2.
Advance registration is requested.
A ceramics class will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Fridays. Those attending may paint a preformed piece of green ware or bisque ware.
The cost is $2 a week for members and $4 for nonmembers, plus the cost of glaze, firing and green ware pieces.
Jewelry making will be taught from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 8. Ideas will be shared for participants to make two pieces, one to take home and one to donate for the 2023 sale.
Supplies will be provided. The cost is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Registration is required by March 2.
Three day trips are also being planned by the center.
One will be to watch the “Celtic Angels Ireland” on March 9.
The cost is $79.
A Ho-Chunk Casino trip will be held Tuesday, March 14. The $50 fee includes deluxe motorcoach transportation and $25 in credits at the casino.
“Schlemiel, Schleimazel: Milwaukee through the eyes of Laverne and Shirley” will be held Tuesday, May 23. The $142 trip will include stops at Polish flats, the “Schotz” brewery, the Bronze Fonz statue, a pizza luncheon, a game of mini-bowling and a frozen custard treat from Leon’s. Registration is due by April 11.
