Port seeks comments on street projects, but in writing this year
Just as in years past, Port Washington officials are seeking public comments on next year’s street improvement projects.
But unlike past years, when comments were solicited during a public meeting, this year residents are asked to weigh in via email, letters or calls due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Comments will be accepted through Tuesday, Dec. 15.
The projects include resurfacing Holden Street from Barry Avenue to Thomas Drive, Thomas Drive from Holden Street to Wisconsin Street, Michael Court from Thomas Drive to the south terminus and Sunset Drive from Highway LL to Spring Street.
The city also plans to reconstruct seven streets:
• West Beutel Road from Holden to Wisconsin street.
• Benjamin Street from Beutel Road to Thomas Drive.
• Barry Avenue from Holden to Benjamin street.
• Randy Circle and Viola Circle from Beutel Road to the north terminus.
• Cindy Circle from Barry Avenue to the north terminus.
• Thomas Court from Thomas Drive to the north terminus.
The city is considering installing a new sidewalk on the south side of Thomas Drive between Michael Court and Wisconsin Street.
A multi-use path and sidewalk may also be installed on the north side of Sunset Road between Highway LL and Spring Street, a project that could involve realigning the Ozaukee Interurban Trail crossing at Sunset Road.
The city does not assess homeowners for replacing sidewalks, but it does charge for new sidewalks.
Construction is expected to take place from March 29 to Sept. 17.
More information about the projects is available at cityofportwashington.com.
Comments about the street project can be emailed to j.chvosta@gremmerassociates.com or by mailing them to City Hall, 100 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington.
