A 27-year-old North Minneapolis man died Friday, Sept. 27, of injuries he suffered during a motorcycle accident in Port Washington two days earlier.

Adam Kellner, who died at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, suffered massive internal injuries during a single-vehicle accident on South Wisconsin Street at South Beach Road about 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, Port Washington Police Chief Kevin Hingiss said.

According to Hingiss, Kellner was in Port Washington visiting a friend when they decided to go on a motorcycle ride.

Kellner was heading south on Wisconsin Street when he failed to make the curve at South Beach Road, Hingiss said. Kellner laid the motorcycle down and was ejected.

“It’s possible that he hit a sign that’s there,” Hingiss said.

Police believe Kellner was wearing a helmet, he said, adding they found pieces of it at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

“At this point, we don’t suspect alcohol as a factor. We believe it to have been speed,” Hingiss said.

Kellner was taken by the Port Washington ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, then transferred by a Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital, he said.

Kellner’s friend, who witnessed the accident, was unhurt, Hingiss said.
