Port gymnastics team hits another season high
Port Washington High School’s gymnastics team reached another season high on Feb. 3.
The Pirates scored 110.175 points, their most this season, in a road loss to talented and deep Nicolet, which tallied 139.25 points.
“Audrey Dickson led the team across the board,” coach Gale Sigler said.
Dickson had season highs on beam with 8.375 and floor with 8.5.
On vault, Dickson had 8.375, Gaby Ortiz had 7.575, Emma Bollech had 7.5 and Sitarah Achakzai had 7.1
Dickson had 7.1 on bars, followed by Bollech, Alyana Alexander and Ortiz.
Liz Ernest returned to the lineup and tied with Bollech for the team’s best score on beam with 7.05.
“Overall, the execution of our skills was a little off which resulted in lower-than-normal or expected scores at this stage of the season; however, with the help of Audrey Dickson’s solid performances on beam and floor, the Pirates continue the journey to improving the team total,” Sigler said.
“We’ll be looking to hit some of our top performances in the next two weeks when our scores matter most.”
Port was to host Shorewood on Wednesday in its final dual meet of the season before competing in the North Shore Conference meet at Hartford on Friday.
