Port boys lose on senior night

Senior night on Monday didn’t go the way the Port Washington High School boys’ volleyball team had hoped.

Menomonee Falls won, 26-24, 17-25, 25-16, 25-20.

“We came out flat with low energy. We won the second set. I thought we turned it around but just couldn’t match their energy,” coach Doug Niemeyer said.

Grady Karrels had 12 kills, Will Theisen had nine, Finn Pashak had eight, Jack Lorier had six and Sawyer Lorier had five. Pashak served three aces. Karrels had four blocks.

Andy Redman had 17 digs, Cash Didier had 11, Gabe Jerome had nine and Cooper Celmo had seven. Didier had 19 assists and Jerome had 17. Mark Krueger had 13 serve-receives with no errors. Theisen had 11 and Didier had 10, neither with an error.

“Will Theisen had a solid match with some great attacks and a couple solo blocks. Mark Krueger came in the back row and passed really well all evening. Andy Redman and Cooper Celmo played solid in the back row, passing jump serves well and throwing in some nice digs along the way,” Niemeyer said.

The seniors honored included Karrels, Pashak, Jack Lorier, Didier, Redman and Cam Bennett.

Port swept at Sheboygan North on Oct. 1, 26-24, 25-19, 25-22. Karrels had 12 kills. Redman had 12 digs and 23 serve-receives with two errors. Jerome had 18 assists.

Port lost at Homestead, 25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 23-25, 15-6, on Sept. 29.

Karrels had 20 kills. Pashak had six blocks. Redman had 12 digs. Jerome had 27 assists and 28 serve-receives with two errors.

Port, 14-9 overall and 1-4 in the North Shore Conference, was to play Nicolet on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
