Port’s swim team is small this year
The Port Washington High School boys’ swim team graduated 10 seniors and has yet to replenish their numbers.
Seven swimmers are on the team this year. Two are back from last season, Jack Sickles and Ben Falkenberg, and five newcomers joined them.
Senior Dagan Daniels, who finished 11th in the Division 2 state diving meet last season, is back for his senior year. Senior diver Nate Kasdorf will miss the season due to a knee injury sustained during football.
“I look forward to the season and watching the swimmers learn and develop stroke technique,” coach Brittany Roecker said.
In the team’s first meet at Whitefish Bay Dec. 1, Sickles was the only Pirate who swam in varsity events. He finished third in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 35 seconds, and third in the 100 backstroke in 1:11.23.
“With newer swimmers and only four days of practice behind us, I was impressed with the team’s motivation and the effort they put into their races,” Roecker said.
Port swam at Nicolet last Thursday. It hosted Grafton on Tuesday and hosts Homestead Thursday and the North Shore Conference relays on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
