The Village of Belgium plans to put up a sign near the splash pad reminding residents that dogs are not allowed in village parks.

The Public Safety Committee suggested the sign at its Aug. 12 meeting.

Village Treasurer Vickie Boehnlein said no incidents involving dogs have been reported, but village ordinance doesn’t allow dogs in parks unless the area is designated as a dog park. Belgium has a dog park.

Director of Public Works Dan Birenbaum said he plans to erect a sign this fall.
