A playground designed with all children in mind

An expanded and now inclusive playground for children of all abilities was recently unveiled at Lincoln Elementary School in Port Washington. Doing the honors were (from left) Jennifer Dimmer, president of the Parent Association of Lincoln School, or PALS, which spearheaded the project; Jennifer Schowalter, past president of PALS; and Wendy Kasten, the grandmother of Lincoln Elementary School alumni who made a significant donation to the $24,000 project. The playground features new swing sets, one of which has two inclusive swings (right) with a poured path below for wheelchair access. There is also free-standing equipment for younger and older children. The project was funded through a joint effort that included the Port Washington-Saukville School District, PALS, Greater Port Washington Kiwanis Club and the Aktion Club at Portal Inc. in Grafton, as well as private donors.
