Planes, trains and cars showcased on Sept. 7
The “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” show will be held at Pioneer Village in the Town of Saukville from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.
The event includes a train show with telegraph demonstrations and models train exhibits by the Kettle Moraine Ballast Scorchers, Metro Model Railroad Club and Morse Code Club.
There will also be an “around the track” scavenger hunt and a bells, horns and whistles display, and the welcome center will have an exhibit portraying life on a caboose.
James Wades of the International Morse Code Club will demonstrate the telegraph system in the Cedarburg Train Station.
There will be a plane show with flying demonstrations by Astro Wings RC planes.
The Compass RC Car Club will have an outdoor racetrack.
There will also be a shine and show car show with a people’s choice trophy.
The day will include music by the Mission River Band from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and a silent auction.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for children and free for children younger than 5.
Proceeds will benefit the 1940 Milwaukee Road caboose restoration. The Historical Society owns one of nine 1940 Milwaukee Road rib-side cabooses still in existence.
It was purchased in 1996 from Volkmann Railroad Builders in Menomonee Falls, and restoration work on the interior and exterior is underway.
