Plan Commission says yes to McDonald’s remodeling request
The Saukville Plan Commission last week approved a request for the Saukville McDonald’s restaurant to be remodeled this summer, using design plans similar to what has been done at other area McDonald’s.
Stephen Jeske, an architect with Haag Muller Inc. in Port Washington, said the remodeling will be like what was done to the Port Washington McDonald’s, albeit on a smaller scale.
The commission also approved a sign request for the Highway 33 business.
Both the Saukville and Port Washington McDonald’s restaurants are owned by West Bend-based Kilian Management Services.
According to documents submitted to the village, alterations to the building will include removing the red double-mansard roof, painting the exterior wall gray and adding metal awnings.
The drive-through lanes will be covered with dark gray canopies on the west side of the building.
Signage will be simplified by using two illuminated “M” arches.
McDonald’s shares the building with a Becks Exxon gas station and convenience store.
No alterations to Becks are proposed.
