Pirates, Black Hawks, get beat in the water

The Port Wasington and Grafton high schools’ swim and dive teams ran into tough competition last week.

The Pirates lost to Nicolet, 115-70, at home last Thursday, and the Black Hawks lost at West Bend Co-op, 120-65, on Oct. 5.

Port won three events. The 200-yard medley of Josie Tetzlaff, Laylah Henschel, Eva Perez and Emma Huber won in 2 minutes, 13.56 seconds.

Tetzlaff won the 100 butterfly in 1:05.25, and Grace Linstroth won the 50 freestyle in 26.92.

For Grafton, Libby Michel won the 200-meter individual medley in 2:25.45 and the 400 freestyle in 4:40.92. Halle Grimm won the 50 freestyle in 30 seconds.

Port hosted West Bend Co-op on Tuesday, Oct. 11, and swims at Whitefish Bay on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Grafton hosted Nicolet on Tuesday, Oct. 11, swims in a Shorewood invite on Saturday, Oct. 15, and at Cedarburg on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
